The War Years brought more people to Norwalk.
Norwalk's manufacturing base shifted from consumer goods to industrial goods with the arrival of the major wars. While Norwalk supplied uniforms and agricultural products in earlier conflicts it was was the engineered products that brought the next wave of growth.
By the Second World War, Nash Engineering and the Norden factories as well as electronic and hydraulic engineering firms grew and employed hundreds.
Norwalkers served in the armed forces doing their part in the war effort.
